Hi guys, I posted my intro in another thread and gave an idea of what I'm trying to do, but here goes nothing anyways.

I'm trying to listen to a local band instead of the community band for the police.  I get the community band no problems, and I can program in the frequency for the local band, but nothing comes across.

Are certain frequencies blocked to the public, or do I need a different radio?  I'm using my roommate's Radio Shack scanner that is probably 10 years old, but I have also tried a few different ones at the local Shack as well, and had the same results.

Specifically, the band I'm looking for is 154.0250 and it's a vhf band.  Does that matter?

The 100MHZ, the one I'm showing is expired. However, I'm showing a new one that's 470.73750, It's not showing the tag so I don't know if it's the Law Tac or Law Dispatch.

It's showing up under Cook County.

So if it's showing up under Cook County does that mean I should be able to hear it...?

What is the other one you showed? It looks like it's the community band that I can get in without issues.

Just checked the scanner, and the 470.737 is the community band with cal park, blue island and others on it.  That one I can listen to all night.
